NOT A JUNK.. a must read...nice article-by A.P.J Kalam.....thougt provoking...

I was in Hyderabad giving this lecture, when a 14 year old girl asked me for my autograph. I asked her what her goal in life is.She replied: I want to live in a developed India. For her, you and I will have to build this developed India. You must proclaim. India is not an under-developed nation; it is a highly developed nation.Do you have 10 minutes? Allow me to come back with a vengeance. Got 10 minutes for your country? If yes, then read; otherwise, choice is yours.YOU say that our government is inefficient.YOU say that our laws are too old.YOU say that the municipality does not pick up the garbage.YOU say that the phones don't work; the railways are a joke, The airline is the worst in the world, mails never reach their destination.YOU say that our country has been fed to the dogs and is the absolute pits.YOU say, say and say. What do YOU do about it?Take a person on his way to Singapore.Give him a name?....YOURS.Give him a face?......YOURS.YOU walk out of the airport and you are at your International best.- In Singapore you don't throw cigarette butts on the roads or eat in the stores.- YOU are as proud of their Underground Links as they are.- YOU pay $5 (approx. Rs.60) to drive through Orchard Road (equivalent of Mahim Causeway or Pedder Road) between 5 PM and 8 PM.- YOU comeback to the parking lot to punch your parking ticket.- In Singapore you don't say anything, DO YOU?- YOU wouldn't dare to eat in public during Ramadan, in Dubai.- YOU would not dare to go out without your head covered in Jeddah.- YOU would not dare to buy an employee of the telephone exchange in London at 10 pounds (Rs.650) a month to, "see to it that my STD and I! SD calls are billed to someone else."- YOU would not dare to speed beyond 55 mph (88 km/h) in Washington and then tell the traffic cop, "Jaanta hai main kaun hoon (Do you know who I am?). I am so and so's son. Take your two bucks and get lost." - YOU wouldn't chuck an empty coconut shell anywhere other than the garbage pail on the beaches in Australia and New Zealand.- Why don't YOU spit Paan on the streets of Tokyo?- Why don't YOU use examination jockeys or buy fake certificates in Boston?????We are still talking of the same YOU.YOU can respect and conform to a foreign system in other countries but cannot in your own. You throw papers and cigarettes on the road the moment you touch the Indian ground. If you can be an involved and appreciative citizen in an alien country, why cannot you be the same here in India?Once in an interview, the famous Ex-municipal Commissioner of Bombay, Mr.Tinaikar, had a point to make."Rich people's dogs are walked on the streets to leave their affluent droppings all over the place," he said. "And then the same people turn around to criticize and blame the authorities for inefficiency and dirty pavements. What do they expect the officers to do? Go down with a broom every time their dog feels the pressure in his bowels? In America every dog owner has to clean up after his pet has done the job. Same in Japan. Will the Indian citizen do that here?" He's right. We go to the polls to choose a government and after that forfeit all responsibility. We sit back wanting to be pampered and expect thegovernment to do everything for us whilst our contribution is totally negative. We expect the government to clean up but we are not going to stop chucking garbage all over the place nor are we going to stop to pick up a stray piece of paper and throw it in the bin.We expect the railways to provide clean bathrooms but we are not going to learn the proper use of bathrooms. We want Indian Airlines and Air India to provide the best of food and toiletries but we are not going to stop pilfering at the least opportunity. This applies even to the staff that is known not to pass on the service to the public. When it comes to burning social issues like those related to women, dowry, girl child and others, we make loud drawing room protestations and continue to do the reverse at home. Our excuse?"It's the whole system which has to change, how will it matter if I alone forego my son's rights to a dowry."So who's going to change the system? What does a system consist of ? Very conveniently for us it consists of our neighbours, other households, other cities, other communities and the government. But definitely not me and YOU.When it comes to us actually making a positive contribution to the system we lock ourselves along with our families into a safe cocoon and look into the distance at countries far away and wait for a Mr. Clean to come along & work miracles for us with a majestic sweep of his hand or we leave the country and run away.- Like lazy cowards hounded by our fears we run to America to bask in their glory and praise their system.- When New York becomes insecure we run to England.- When England experiences unemployment, we take the next flight out to the Gulf.- When the Gulf is war struck, we demand to be rescued and brought home by the Indian government.Everybody is out to abuse and rape the country. Nobody thinks of feeding the syst! em. Our conscience is mortgaged to money.Dear Indians, the article is highly thought inductive, calls for a great deal of introspection and pricks one's conscience too?..I am echoing J.F. Kennedy's words to his fellow American to relate to Indians?."ASK WHAT WE CAN DO FOR INDIA AND DO WHAT HAS TO BE DONE TO MAKE INDIA WHAT AMERICA AND OTHER WESTERN COUNTRIES ARE TODAY"Thank You,Dr. Abdul KalaamLet's do what India needs from us. Forward this mail to each Indian for a change instead of sending only Jokes or junk mails.

Corruption Quit India, Aug 9th 1942 - 2006: Join us for RTI protest

Dear friends,Do you remember being filled with pride when people praise India forbeing the largest functioning democracy in the world?Do you remember hanging your head in shame when people ridicule India'sreputation as one of the most corrupt nations? If you answered yes to one or both of the above questions, then youshould ACT NOW.India Needs Your Voice to be Heard. Why, What is Wrong?A landmark and progressive Right to Information (RTI) Act, passed bythe Indian parliament in October 2005, had ushered in a new hope for anation under seige by the corrupt public officials. The enthusiastic useof the RTI Act by the citizenry to reveal scores of illegeal dealingsby the public authorities, promised the beginning of an era of trueparticipatory democracy. However in an arbitrary manner, the government introduced an amendmenton July 20, 2006, that would exempt "file notings" from the purview ofthe act - which means that the identity of the guilty officials willremain concealed under the garb of secrecy. This move dashes any hopes ofaccountability and transparency in the functioning of the government, thus allowing corruption to thrive unchecked. The nation has risen to this new challenge and is fighting back - thefight back has opened a new front - Save the Right to InformationCampaign[ http://rti.aidindia.org]All of us who want the emergence of an empowered, democratic, strongIndia, free from the shackles of corruption need to raise our voices now- ONE UNITED VOICE - calling for the landmark RTI Act to be left as is.Here is how you can help:Send a FREE FAX to the Prime Minister -http://rti.aidindia.org/petitionsSign a petition,Call the Prime Minister's office,Send an automated email to the Prime Minister,Call your nearest Embassies,Write letters to the Editors,Get your Local groups to endorse the peition.Learn more: http://rti.aidindia.org

Answer lies within us-a forwarded message

A train blast in Mumbai kills approximately 200Indians and injureshundreds others. The reaction from the apparentSuperpower (The greatUSA) is that India must show restraint in its actionsand urges for apolitical solution to the Kashmir problem. On theother hand of theglobe in the same evening 6 Israeli soldiers arekilled and 2captured by Islamic terrorists. Israel prepares for afull frontattack on Lebanese settlements and the same superpowersays that theterrorists should be dealt with a firm and iron hand.Is it true that just because the population of Indiais more than 1billion, the value of a human life in India is thatmuch less ascompared to an American, Britiish, Israeli or anyother Europeanlife? North Korea test fires a missile and the USmoves a BattleCarrier group to the Pacific Ocean !!!!!!!!!!!. Theright to selfdefend should lie with every individual and country. It is high timethat all of us as patriotic Indians do not take thisthing lying downand ensure that each of us in their individualcapacity spread thismessage of injustice across the world. For the death of 45 British citizens in a similar bombblast lastyear, it was a world wide tragedy on CNN, while foryesterdays eventthe quote on CNN was "in their fight over disputedKashmir" the twocountries ( Pakistan & India ) should look for apolitical solution.May we all ask where was the political solution whenthe IRA wanted aseparate homeland, and closer to the date where is thepoliticalsolution in Iraq. Kashmir was, Kashmir is and Kashmirwill continueto be an integral part of our motherland. Let us allIndians pledgenot to be governed by vested intrests in US ForeignPolicy and takeour own destiny in our hands.*Please pass this mail to as many Indians as you canacross the globeand let the message of injustice spread. Not passingthe message willnot bring any bad luck or misfortune to anyindividual, just willspeak volumes about your commitment towards themotherland*

architect of India independent

In the early hours of January 17 1941, one of the founders of Indian National Army and one of the most enigmatic leaders of freedom struggle, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose conned the British intelligence and escaped from his house in Kolkata to wage a war on the Raj.It was from the typically colonial 38/2, Elgin Road house in south Kolkata that Netaji spent nearly 25 years of his life. It was here that Bose, a rebellious college student, became a leader of the Indian National Congress and rolled out one of the greatest adventures of India's freedom struggle from its driveway.Deep in the walls of this building, there was once a dream. A dream that was radically different from Gandhi's plans of peaceful protest and it was through the verandah of the house, while the city slept on a cold moonlit night in January 1941, that Bose tiptoed out of his bedroom and fled to Afghanistan and Europe, which eventually resulted in the birth of the Azad Hind Fauj.Bose tricked the British intelligence and slipped out in this 1937 Wanderer, made in Germany. He had for chauffeur nephew Sisir, who was then only 20 years old. That daredevil act, which started in this driveway, is still fondly recounted by the successors of the young chauffeur."Dr Bose felt that he was fortunate in playing a very small role in a very big historical event. Because the day Subhas Chandra Bose left this house, historians now say that this was the beginning of the Azad Hind movement.Subhas Chandra Bose in his graduation to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose - that was the first step," Wife of Sisir Kumar Bose, Krishna Bose, says. The bedroom from where Netaji plotted the escape has been preserved the way it was 55 years ago. After all, it was here that the leader gave concrete shape to his political theory of armed struggle after parting ways with the Congress."He wanted to substitute the loyalty of Indian soldiers to the British King emperor with a new loyalty to India. And that he would only be able to achieve if he had access to Indian prisoners of war being held by the enemies of Britain in the Second World War,” Historian Sugata Bose says.A few months before Independence, Netaji's elder brother Sarat Bose dedicated this building to the country. It now houses a museum and a research centre. There are no sounds of urgent footfalls resonating in the corridors anymore.Yet, there seems to be something that still lives on in every brick of this building, perhaps waiting to tell the untold tales of those turbulent times, which never reached the history textbooks

A Nation Pride

Every nation has it's own culture,tradition,religion,principles....which makes them a unique
even it was same for our nation "INDIA" .The above all makes different from other at the same time wich makes acme of all.
"Swaraj aaya,bharat maatha ki jai,vandemataram".
but that was a great statements spoken those times of early independence days..slowly the patritism was declining but most extent that was only to spoken words..but in implementation it was far fom that....abhi sabhi log isa nahi karthae par koi log isa rahtha hi...leave abt them..
A nation Pride was most important to make their nation far different fom others..
60th independence day was approaching,a national sacred day on 15th august...
the main question to most of them arises when they think of how many yrs..what we have achieved..but still surprises by asking themselves why the nation is like that...keep full stop there in aksing thse questions.
let take average youth age of 25 yrs...
let a simple statistics
in his age og 25,daily 9 hour sleep goes so that around one third of his age goes in that
in day time around again on an average8 to 10 hours...goes in his work...and soem time goes in other activities..
so left over with around 5 to 6 months..in that goes in other unnecessary activities...he has thinking time of 1 month for others in that if he thinks what comes for him then what he could do??
1 month of thinking and implementation is very great time
so in his age of 25 yrs he makes a small plans abt the nation but that is not sufficient ,if that is case he never thinks of the questions posed above..
well leave abt that
the nation has reached great mile stones
India has strongest navigation system
India is first nation to launch Direct to home and followed by others
India is first among remote sensing..
and many others...
it goes on.....
The politicians are like that because citizens are most worst than them..because there was no questioning .just left issues as they do't know..

This is not genration to follow the older ideas and strategies because competition is not expected at any time..so the present can do what future requires...
the former great leaders given what the citizens require..but using them we have to construct....
"Slow and steady wins the race" btu that is not required at this point it requires a smart work
Any way I am proud to be a citizen of INDIA.
No nation has histiry like INDIA has!
